"We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future
mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present.
We are made up of layers, cells, constellations."
- Anaïs Nin

I'm invested in helping my clients gain self-awareness, improve interpersonal relationships, and enhance how they experience life. Therapy with me often focuses on understanding emotional patterns and developing new coping strategies. Sometimes therapeutic work is aimed at resolving a current crisis; many clients find, though, that linking past experiences to current issues is often helpful in promoting personal growth rather than just fixing a situation.
My therapeutic approach is largely influenced by psychodynamic and cognitive theories of human development. I believe that early childhood experiences are rich and meaningful sources of learning that have lasting influences on choices we make in life. Likewise, we all develop styles of thinking that affect how we experience the world. I find that considering all aspects of functioning (emotional, physical, spiritual, and social) is essential when helping people make lasting changes.
Common areas of focus:
- achieving satisfying relationships with intimate partners, other family members, and friends
- effectively managing difficult emotions such as sadness, anger, and fear
- alleviating depression, anxiety, and other mood disturbances
- learning healthy techniques for coping with stress
- enhancing self-esteem and self-acceptance
I look forward to working with you to improve or resolve the concerns that have prompted you to seek help.
Welcome
